I’m Luca Domiro, a contemporary abstract realist artist of Italian heritage, born and raised in South Africa and now based near the New Forest in the UK. I’ve painted since the age of 13, although my creative journey also took me through a 20-year corporate career before returning more fully to my art practice.
I love the play between abstraction and realism, exploring animals, sea and land through expressive colour, layered marks and figurative detail. Working primarily in acrylic, my paintings move between the recognisable and the imagined.
Inspired by wildlife, landscape and personal experience, my work explores identity, belonging, memory and resilience. Whether painting an animal, a shifting horizon or an abstract landscape, I’m interested in capturing more than the subject itself – creating work that invites connection, reflection and a sense of something personally familiar.
